    Course Details


    Data Center CCIE Unified Fabric Workshop (DCXUF), Version 1 is  5 days Instructor Led Training Program designed for candidates preparing for Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert – Data Center Certification lab exam.This training event helps students to hands-on complex lab scenarios. Students will learn detailed configuration and optimization of protocols, and features found in data center unified fabric.


    This event topics include Cisco Unified Fabric features (NX-OS), covering both Cisco Nexus and MDS platforms with associated labs. The Labs provide detailed insight into Data Center Infrastructure NXOS and Cisco Storage Networking CCIE DC Lab exam topics.


    Lab work contains approximately 80 percent of the course work, and instructor will provide students:

    •  An understanding of how to interpret Cisco exam questions
    • A detailed solution for each challenge
    • Examples of common mistakes, troubleshooting techniques, and validation


    Upon completing this course, the learner will be able to meet these overall objectives:

    • Layer 2 and Layer 3 connectivity

    • Data center interconnect

    Module 1: Course Introduction

    • Explain where the CCIEDC-UF course fits in the overall data center
    • Clarify prerequisite knowledge and skills
    • Review the CCIE data center lab exam blueprint

     Module 2: Cisco Data Center Infrastructure

    • Basic switch configuration
    • Implement virtual device contexts
    • Configure VLANs, ports, and UDLD
    • Optimize STP
    • Implement fabric extender connectivity
    • Configure and optimize fabric path
    • Implement virtual port channels (vPCs), EvPC, and vPC+
    • Optimize vPC
    • Implement basic EIGRP and basic OSPF in data center environment
    • Implement BFD for dynamic routing protocols, ECMP, and multicast
    • Configure FHRP
    • Optimize graceful restart/NSF
    • Configure OTV multicast and unicast
    • Optimize OTV
    • FHRP filtering across OTV
    • Create user accounts with RBAC, manage system files, and verify DCNM
    • Implement AAA services, port security, NTP, PTP, and NetFlow
    • Configure SNMPv2 and SNMPv3, ACLs, Cisco TrustSec®, SPAN, ERSPAN, and Smart Call Home
    • Establish DHCP snooping, DAI, and source guard

    Module 3: Cisco Data Center Storage

    • Configure Fibre Channel
    • Implement port channel, ISL, trunking, and zoning
    • Configure security features
    • Manage FC oversubscription
    • Implement Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE), NPV and NPIV features, unified fabric switch different modes of operation, QoS features, multihop
    • FCoE, FCIP, and security features
      • Implement SAN extension tuner
      • Implement iSCSI (including advanced features) and iSCSI security features

    Module 4: Cisco Data Center Troubleshooting

    •  Given an OTV problem, identify the problem and potential fix
    •  Given a VDC problem, identify the problem and potential fix
    •  Given a vPC problem, identify the problem and potential fix
    •  Given a Layer 2 problem, identify the problem and potential fix
    •  Given a Layer 3 problem, identify the problem and potential fix
    •  Given a multicast problem, identify the problem and potential fix
    •  Given a fabric path problem, identify the problem and potential fix
    •  Given a unified fabric problem, identify the problem and potential fix

    The recommended knowledge and skills that a learner should have for the best learning outcome include:

    Excellent understanding of networking protocols:

    • Recommended attendance of the Implementing Cisco Data Center Unified Fabric

    (DCUFI) course or attendance of the Cisco Nexus 7000, 5000 product courses:

    • Recommended CCNP data center certification
    • Passed CCIE data center written exam

    Excellent understanding of the Fibre Channel protocol and the SAN environment:

    • Recommended attendance of a Fibre Channel protocol class or equivalent experience
    • Recommended attendance of the Configuring Cisco MDS 9000 Series Switches (DCMDS) course or equivalent experience
    • Read or be familiar with Robert Kembel’s books on Fibre Channel and Fibre Channel
